A superb and rare late 19th century navigators Sextant, Royal Navy pattern 'Bell' frame design. Engraved on the arc Heath & Co Ltd, Crayford, London.

The silver scale is engraved from -5  degrees to 150 degrees and can measure angles up to 136 degrees, it is divided into 10 minute increments. The index arm has swinging scale magnifier, the silver Vernier scale reads from 0 to 10 seconds of arc. 7 inch radius.

It is contained within its original hardwood box that has a patent push button sextant release mechanism and brass carry handle. It is also complete with all its accessories - three telescopes, one spare eyepiece, also the later addition of an extra wide angle telescope, two eyepiece sun filters, screwdriver and 2 x mirror adjusting tools.

This example also has a rare HEATHS Patent greatest angle clamp, it is also fitted with a very rare KNORRE'S level fitted to the index arm.

The last certificate of examination label is dated August 1912.
