Why don’t you publish prices on your website ?
We do not publish prices on our website because too many scammers and fraudsters were copying our photographs and information from our website, often trying to sell items they do not have.
It also prevents people from quoting prices from our website, when in actual fact the item they are selling is not the same, not complete or in some instances fake. The items we offer for sale are unique and also in a unique condition, we hope you understand.
Collectors and customers are normally happy to contact us and enjoy receiving a personal service, this is also why we don’t operate a shopping cart or a click and buy website.
Why don’t you have a click and buy / shopping cart and online payment system on your website ?
We prefer a more personalised one to one service and so do our customers. We offer a unique collection of maritime antiques and nautical collectibles, they are also usually one offs and in a unique condition. We also prefer to discuss a client’s requirements in order to offer our input and advice.
Why do you have multiple websites ?
Our www.maritime-antiques.co.uk website has a limited amount of space to display our range of maritime antiques, we set up a second website www.clipper-maritime-antiques.com so we can display more photos and detail of our nautical antiques.
We have type specific websites because there are many different groups of specific collectors and enthusiasts. This also helps with visibility on the internet search engines and specific search results, it also offers resilience with Internet service providers and ISP hosting. How often do you update your website ?
We try to keep our website constantly updated, however this does depend on how busy we are and the amount of new items that need photographing & listing. Keep an eye on our LATEST ARRIVALS page.
How long have you been dealing in maritime antiques and nautical collectibles for ?
We have been buying and selling maritime antiques for well over 30 years and as a professional sailor and seaman I fully appreciate and understand the historic importance and use of these unique nautical items.
Is all of your stock displayed on your website ?
We have a large selection of maritime antiques and some items are not yet on our website. If you are looking for a specific item or only collect a certain type of nautical antique, let us know and we can add you to our 'wanted list'
Do you promote and advertise your new stock items on social medial channels ?
We use Facebook and Instagram to connect with our customers and promote our business, but it is sometimes difficult to keep all platforms updated. Keeping our website fresh & updated is our primary focus.
Do you have a high street shop or store ?
We used to have a high street store in the famous shipping port of Falmouth in Cornwall, but unfortunately due to ever increasing property rent and business rates we were forced to close and become internet based. We would love to open another highstreet store, but finding the right location with a realistic rent is a challenge.
Can we visit you to view items in person ?
Yes no problem ! Personal viewing can be arranged by appointment, or a live viewing can be arranged via WHATSAPP, FACETIME or TEAMS
Are you able to ship items worldwide ?
Yes, we have been shipping our maritime antiques and nautical collectibles worldwide for many decades. Please contact us if you require a quote.
Are we able to view items live on the internet via WhatsApp, Teams or FaceTime ?
Yes no problem !, you can view individual items of take a live look around our showroom. This can be arranged by appointment.
Do you offer restoration services ?
Yes, we offer restoration services for maritime antiques, nuatical instruments and ship models. Please contact us for more information.
Are your antiques authentic ?
Yes, all of our maritime antiques are 100% authentic and genuine. We DO NOT sell modern reproduction or fake maritime antiques.
